The International Symposium on Spatial and Temporal Databases 2011 (SSTD 2011) will be held on August 24-26, 2011 at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN. SSTD 2011 is the most reputed meeting related to spatial computing. It has met every other year since 1991 and its proceedings have been published by Springer in the series on Lecture Notes in Computer Science. To facilitate discussions and interchanges, attendance is limited to 100 people representing academia, government (e.g. USDOD-NGA, Army Geospatial Center, USDOE-ORNL, NASA, USDOJ-MAPS, NIH-NCI, etc.) and industry (e.g. ESRI, IBM Smarter Planet, Oracle Spatial, Microsoft Research, Google Earth).

SSTD 2009 featured three invited speakers: Lars Arge (University of Aarhus), Sud Menon (ESRI) and Mor Naaman (Rutgers University). It accepted 27 papers (out of 84 submissions) and showcased 10 demonstrations. Best four papers were invited to a special issue of Geoinformatica, a top-tier journal in GIS area. It also featured 3 half-day tutorials on state-of-the-art topics within spatio-temporal data management, held by distinguished international researchers. SSTD 2011 will feature an inaugural session on challenges and vision papers sponsored by the Computing Community Consortium.

To make SSTD 2011 a successful one, we believe that we need to maintain low registration fees. In that case we can attract more attendees, especially students. For this, your support of the Conference is very critical to its future existence and success. Sponsors for recent SSTDs include the National Science Foundation, Computing Community Consortium, ESRI, Oracle, Det Obelske Familiefond, Otto Mønsteds Fond, etc. We would highly appreciate your sponsorship of the Conference at one of the following levels:

2K+ (Bronze)

  • Logo on website and conference bag (size depends on Sponsorship level)
